Travel Medical InsuranceProducts & Services
Travelling abroad can be an exciting experience. But what would happen if you or one of your family members became ill or injured while away from home? Most travelers assume they will be covered by their standard medical plan. The truth is, many traditional plans are not designed for international travel. Your vacation can quickly turn into a nightmare if you’re not prepared for a medical emergency.
Margolis And Associates offers several travel medical insurance plans that provide key medical benefits for international visitors, vacationers and travelers: Hospitalization, Emergency Evacuation, Trip Interruption Trip Cancellation, Medical Coverage, Emergency Evacuation and Baggage Loss.
Are you covered for a pre-existing medical condition
A pre-existing condition is any injury, illness, disease or other medical condition that occurs prior to the travel plan’s effective date and for which you had symptoms and sought diagnosis, medical treatment, and/or new prescription medications or a change in your current prescription. While many travel medical insurance plans do offer coverage for an acute onset of a pre-existing condition, the conditions that are actually covered under this benefit can often be very confusing to many international travelers
What if you suffer a heart attack abroad, an evacuation is issued for political reasons, or you are injured in sports activities or an act of terrorism?
The right Travel Medical Insurance Plan can prevent you from getting stuck with a whopping bill if you need to be transported home, to another hospital or to the nearest place of safety. Emergency medical evacuations will get you out of a remote area and transported to a place where you can receive proper medical care.
If you are killed or die on your trip, repatriation coverage ensures your body is properly transported home or to a funeral home nearby. What if you don’t speak French or are hard of hearing? Travel medical plans also often include doctor or hospital recommendations, translation services, some Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) and/or term life benefits which are paid regardless of any coverage you may have back home for a covered injury.
We know that the reasons to travel abroad are many and varied – that’s why our services are designed to provide you with the assistance you need no matter where you are.
One of the questions we are frequently asked is what is the difference between trip interruption, travel delay coverage, and trip cancellation. Nearly all the same reasons you would cancel your trip are covered as a trip interruption.
What if during a trip, there is an unexpected or accidental death of an immediate family member (spouse, child, parent or sibling), a break in at the insured’s principle place of residence, or the substantial destruction of the principle’s residence due to a fire or natural disaster?
This benefit often offers travelers reimbursement of their pre-paid, non-refundable expenses should they unexpectedly need to cut their travels short. Learn more about trip interruption insurance and why it is important.
If you’re a victim of identity theft, you could face health and financial risks.
When a thief uses your name or personal information to obtain medical care, the thief’s health information can become mixed with yours. That could affect not only your future medical treatment, but also your insurance and payment records, and even your credit report. Identity theft insurance may cover expenses such as long distance phone bills, notary and certified mailing costs, credit reports, stop payment orders and even attorney fees.
Isn’t it great to know that travel insurance for luggage can come to the rescue for you? However, it’s not entirely that simple.
Lost or delayed luggage can be a source of tremendous angst because you’re in an unfamiliar place, don’t know your way around, may not speak the local language and you’ve travelled a long way and are tired. Remember, your bag could be stolen or destroyed on the return flight as well. If you were travelling with medication, some items may be very costly to replace.
The airlines have strong limits on what they will pay for lost or damaged luggage, but travel insurance coverage for lost luggage can make the difference. With a package plan, even the items you bought while on your trip are protected up to the limits of the policy. Some policies will also provide cover for theft of cash, and for the cost of replacing travel documents such as your passport or credit cards that are stolen or lost.
Whether you are vacationing, living or working abroad for short or extended periods, frequent travelers between countries or maintain multiple countries of residences, isn’t it reassuring to know…
